Our organization (Kare for Kristi) is dedicated to helping a 27 year-old wife and mother named Kristi Roberts. Kristi has been diagnosed with 4th stage melanoma. She has undergone surgery to remove a mole deemed to be cancerous. The cancer had spread to the lymph nodes in her right groin and she had surgery to remove those as well. Kristi is now undergoing interferon therapy.
Because of her surgeries and treatments, the doctors have ordered that Kristi not work. Most of her sick leave was used when she had her daughter, so she has already used what little she has left. Her medical bills are piling up while her husband is struggling to bring home enough money to cover their house payment and other bills, as well as buy diapers and wipes for their 18 month old daughter.
In an effort to relieve some of the financial stresses, we have put together a fundraiser for Kristi. On Sunday August 3rd, 2008 from 2-5pm we have put together an event in which several vendors will take part. In the Heritage Room located in the Shriver Center on Miami’s campus in Oxford, Ohio, shoppers will be able to visit tables that feature items from Mary Kay, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Premier Jewelry, Home Interior Thirty One, and more. These vendors have pledged to donate 15-40% of their profits to Kristi and her family. We will also hold a raffle with items from Avon, Ramsey Photography, You’re Fired, Autozone, Brown’s
Marketplace, and more. A bake sale will be going on as well.
