The Hugs from Jeni Foundation is a non-profit organization developed by the family of Jennifer Miley in her memory.
Jeni was a Class of 2000 graduate of Winton Woods High School. She lived in Greenhills, in Cincinnati, Ohio all of her life and was involved in many community activities. She was captain of the Drill Team during her senior year and was also involved in the choir and band throughout the years of her high school career. She was a volunteer with the HOSTS program, the Big Sister Organization and was active in the Christian organization, Young Life. She also had a great love for animals and was always finding homes for stray cats and dogs. She attended the University of Cincinnati majoring in Journalism. Her long term goal was to use this degree to have a career in broadcasting to help people on a world-wide scale.
In honor of Jeni, quilts are made each year for children who are in crisis centers or foster care. The fabrics of the quilts represent the many things that Jeni loved - frogs, cats, dogs, books, the color purple, camping and the ocean. Lakeside Elementary school children draw pictures on squares that are then sewn together with other fabrics by our volunteers. They are then given to Project Linus, a non-profit volunteer organization that donates them to Children’s Hospital. For more information regarding our quilt project, click here.
Each year the foundation sponsors the Greenhills Halloween Mutt March held on the last Sunday in October. Owners and their pets are invited to dress up in Halloween costumes and parade through the Village of Greenhills . The activities include music provided by the Winton Woods High School band, raffles, demonstrations and vendors displaying their products and services. All proceeds from the event are donated to the Stray Animal Adoption Program, an organization that finds homes for stray animals. The 2008 3rd Annual Greenhills Halloween Mutt March will be held on Sunday, October 26 from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm. To find out more information to sponsor or attend the event, click here.
If you would like to make a donation to the foundation to help us continue our work, please send a check payable to Hugs From Jeni Foundation to HFJF, P.O. Box 40701 , Cincinnati , OH 45240 .
