Molly's diabetes walk...

Dear Julie,

With that in mind, I am writing to ask you to support Molly in finding> a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. During the last year, she has had to learn many new words and skills foreign to most five year olds. I think you'll agree that she has given our family a lesson in bravery, and now, we have a chance to give something back to her. On Saturday, October 25 at Inverness Park (in Birmingham), the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) holds its annual Walk to Cure Diabetes to raise funds to help find a cure. This year Molly’s Marchers will make their debut appearance in the walk, and we are asking for your participation. There are three levels of support we are focusing on: your prayers, your presence, and your gifts.

1) Prayers: We ask that each of you say a prayer for Molly on October 25 at 9 am as we begin the Walk to Cure Diabetes, praying for strength, for bravery, and for a cure.
2) Presence: we want to show our support for Molly by walking with her. Our goal is that Molly’s Marchers will comprise a team of 100 walkers. Of course, this is probably not practical for all of you, but I wanted you to be included in the invitation. Each participant will receive a t-shirt for the event. You can sign up on-line by going to> the following web address:> http://walk.jdrf.org/register.cfm?id=87101186
3) Gifts: We also have a financial goal for Molly’s Marchers to raise $20,000 for JDRF. Eighty-five cents of each dollar raised goes directly to diabetes research. With your participation of just $50, we can reach our financial goal and bring us that much closer to a cure. You may want to write a check made out to “JDRF” with “Molly’s Marchers” in the tag line. Send it to JDRF Alabama Chapter, 14 Office Park Circle, Suite 115, Birmingham, AL, 35223. Or, you can donate> today using the following address: http://walk.jdrf.org/support.cfm?id=87101186

Finally, you can see a five-minute video of Molly’s journey over the last year is posted on YouTube.com and can be seen by searching the site for “Molly’s Marchers” (for Molly’s JDRF Video 2008) or by going to the following web address: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T4Qk2StpR8 We would love it if you would pass this information along to anyone in Cincinnati that you think might enjoy seeing it or be willing to make a donation (or walk for that matter!!!) We will call later today or tomorrow when the baby arrives to let you know if our family should be considered Cunningham South with 2 girls and two boys. Thank you in advance for your participation. In Molly’s own words at the end of the video...”and we’re waiting for a cure, please give today.”
Sincerely,
Stephen and Gretel
